Birch sap is extracted from the trunk of the plant of the same name (Betula Alba) that lives in forested areas of North Asia, Canada and Northern Europe. It is widely used in gemmotherapy and cosmetics because of its draining, diuretic, purifying and balancing properties.

Sap is collected by inserting tubes into the trunk of the adult plant and collecting it with vessels at the foot of the trunk. Up to 4-5 liters of sap are extracted from a trunk with a diameter of 50 centimeters in about four days. It is rich in minerals, amino acids and sugars.

It is used in various forms, such as herbal teas, tinctures, drops, extracts and sap, and in cosmetic formulations for specific hair treatments.

The precious sap is often used in shampoo and lotion formulas because of its many beneficial effects on the hair: it balances and purifies oily skin and hair, limiting the formation of sebum.
