FSC CERTIFICATION
A responsibility-oriented vision
For all our secondary product packs, we are committed to choosing FSC-certified suppliers for an increasingly responsible supply chain.
FSC® indicates that the wood has been harvested for the benefit of communities, wildlife and the environment within responsibly managed forests, complying with the regulations underlying the Chain of Custody.
THE SIGNATURE.
What FSC means
Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is an international nongovernmental, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world's forests. FSC sets standards based on recognized principles of responsible forest management that are supported by active environmental, social and economic stakeholders. It promotes a socially useful and economically sustainable management of the world's forests.
THE COMMITMENT OF THE FSC SUPPLY CHAIN
The FSC Chain of Custody
FSC certification of Chain of Custody (Chain of Custody, CoC) enables the traceability of materials from responsibly managed forests, controlled sources, recovered materials, or a combination of these sources. It ensures the transparent flow of information and actions along the supply chain and is essential to be able to apply FSC labels on products.
the nomenclature
100% FSC label
The FSC 100% label is placed on products made from fibers and materials sourced exclusively from FSC®-certified forests.
the nomenclature
FSC MIX Label
The FSC MIX label is applied to products made from different fibers: certified and/or recycled materials (not less than 70%) and/or controlled materials.
the nomenclature
FSC RECYCLED label
The FSC Recycled label indicates that the wood or paper from which the product is made comes from recycled and recovered materials.
FSC STANDS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
FSC's forest management standards provide for the protection of water quality, prohibit the cutting down of old forests, prevent the loss of natural forest cover, and prohibit the use of highly toxic chemicals-all aspects of a forest's responsible management system.
FSC requires those who manage forests, whether on public or private land, to involve members of local communities in decision-making processes and to protect the rights of indigenous peoples, thereby integrating them into the certification process and ensuring that the impact of management operations is controlled and mitigated. FSC also requires that the result of certification audits be made public, even if private property is involved-this is distinctive from other types of certification.
Many of the world's largest companies favor the use of FSC-certified products. Standards on green building, such as the LEED program of the U.S. Green Building Council, provide incentives for the use of FSC-certified building materials, and there is an increasing number of customers, governments and public administrations demanding FSC-certified products. Companies that produce FSC products therefore have easier access to these markets.
FSC is an independent international organization led by its members, organized into three spheres (social, environmental and economic) with equal decision-making power. Members elect the Board of Directors and make the most strategic decisions. Anyone with a strong passion for sustainable forest management can become a member of FSC.This transparent and balanced approach is a hallmark of FSC and ensures that the multiplicity of visions and interests are represented during decision-making processes.
