Tales from Nature
Oleanolic Acid is a natural compound derived primarily from the unsaponifiable fraction of many vegetable oils, particularlyolive oil. It is a triterpene also found in the cuticle of fruits (such as apples, grapes, plums) and in several medicinal plants.
In nature it performs a "protective" function for the plant, while in cosmetics and supplementation it is valued for its antioxidant, soothing and skin barrier support properties.
Hair Benefits
Studies show that Oleanolic Acid:
-
Inhibits 5α-reductase; this enzyme converts testosterone into DHT; excess DHT miniaturizes the follicle in androgenetic alopecia.
-
Stimulates follicle activity; a umentsmatrix cell proliferation and activates the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, associated with the anagen phase.
