Tales from Nature

Fomes Officinalis or Larch Mushroom, is an inedible mushroom that grows in tubers arranged in several layers that renew each year and are arranged vertically so that the spores can fall. Its name is Fomes Officinalis, commonly known as Larch Agaricus. "Agaricus medicorum" was called in ancient times to indicate its therapeutic virtues against intestinal ills and snakebite.

It is still used today in the preparation of herbal medicines and bitters. Once much sought after, the therapeutic use of this mushroom did not have wide application as it was rather rare to find and therefore very expensive, but it made the fortune of numerous liqueurs that based their bitter taste precisely on the very energetic active ingredients of this mushroom.

Skin Benefits

Fomes (mushroom) Officinalis Extract is extracted from the pulp of the Fomes Officinalis mushroom. It has an astringent action that can close enlarged pores and improve skin texture, making the skin visibly firmer, smoother and more even for a silky effect and matte finish.
