Tales from Nature

Wakame Seaweed is a brown seaweed that grows among the rocky seabeds of Japan, Korea and China. It has green leaves equipped with a central rib. Well-known and important in the East, it is a significant nutritional source, especially for Japan and Southeast Asia.

Recently the seaweed is also spreading to New Zealand, Australia and France, where it is cultivated along the Breton coast of Finistère for food and cosmetic use.

It is known for its rich content of vitamins, proteins and minerals, particularly iodine, calcium, magnesium and iron. Precisely because of the presence of iodine, the seaweed is recommended for balancing thyroid activity. Wakame Seaweed is the third most consumed seaweed, after nori and kombu. It has restorative and stimulating properties and is useful for the weakened body.
