Papaya (loaded Papaya, of the Cariacee family) is a plant originally from the Molucche Islands, in Indonesia, currently grown in all tropical and sub-tropical areas. The first testimonies on the plant date back to the Spanish conqueror Hernan Cortes: the Aztecs offered him "a fruit similar to a melon", to help him in the digestion of an abundant lunch.
The populations of the Caribbean called the papaya "fruit of the angels" and also Christopher Columbus met the Papaya plant with this name, when he landed in the new world. Papaya is a rich source of energy, thanks to the presence of vitamins and mineral salts and has a detoxifying and purifying effect.
